REDEEMER

The biblical idea of redemption is a rich and powerful truth that can get overlooked because we assume we know what it means.

To redeem means:

  1. To buy back, or to win back

  2. To free from what distresses or harms

  3. To free from captivity by payment of ransom

  4. To extricate from, or help to overcome something detrimental

  5. To release from blame or debt; to clear

These words were taken from the Webster Dictionary; we know and use them so often that we can miss the eternal truth that Jesus is OUR REDEEMER! Colossians 1:13-14 says, “For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” What Adam did in the garden through his disobedience and pride, Jesus undid at the cross. Jesus left heaven to come and rescue us and bring us into eternal life. Through His death, burial, and resurrection – He redeemed us! In Jesus alone, Georgetown, Texas can find hope for life and eternity.
