It’s more than just a name…
When we considered the different ideas of what we could name our church we wanted
something that spoke to who Jesus is and what Jesus does. We wanted something more than a Latin word, or something that was geographically fixed around a major city street. We wanted a name that points to our Savior.
The word redeemer and redemption is all throughout the Old Testament and New Testament. To redeem means to buy back. It means to rescue, to pay ransom, to extricate from harm, to clear someone’s name.
In Colossians 1:13-14 the Apostle Paul says that exact thing about who Jesus is for us. God has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son whom He loves in whom we have redemption the forgiveness of sin. Our God is a missionary God who sent his Son to redeem us at great cost to himself. He paid our price to redeem us - to free us that we might be made pure, white, forgiven, declared righteous in Christ, and brought home
to Himself.
We're also part of the Redeemer network which is a group of over 30 churches that have committed to proclaim this message of Jesus Christ, this good news of redemption, to the believer and to the non-believer. Our hope is that you will join us, and you will be freed and inspired by Jesus our Redeemer.
